Twisted Trend Watch 2010 (and Sneak the New Twisted Line!)

The layering trend goes leggy

As we get ready to say hasta luego to 2009, lets take a look at what trends designer Deb are picking as sure dominate 2010… with a little sneaky peek of the flavor of the Twisted Silver’s new line:

Eccentric Jewelry

Statement and strong pieces will lead the trends in 2010, especially funky, mismatched and eclectic combinations.  Vintage jewelry will also play into the mix.  Multi-strand layers and bib necklaces were all over fashion week and will be a strong continuing trend.  Watch for the choker/long necklace combos. The stacked bracelets and cuffs will still carry over into 2010.  Although precious metals will always have their place, base metals such as brass, matte silver and copper will continue to be the trend setter and will even begin to make a trek into mainstream choices. (See! Twisted is always a couple years ahead of the trends.)

Sweet Footwear

We’ll be seeing more streamlined riding boots and lace up shoes. Knee-high socks and over-the-knee socks are a trend that will transition from winter to spring easily… and practically as the weather changes!  We’ll also continue to see bright colored and patterned tights and stirrups.  Watch for a layered look of tall socks over tights with skirts or denim shorts.

Boyfriend Blazers

perfect for bracelets

Masculine apparel for women is still going strong, and blazers with cuffed sleeves will be the perfect touch as the weather turns warmer and are perfect for showing off your stack of bracelets!

We saw a bit of the jumpsuit trend last summer, but it still hasn’t peaked just yet.  Watch for uni-suits, rompers, and jumpsuits to make a  comeback, along with simple layerable pieces – think UNITS from the eighties.  Remember that store?

Layered, Sheer Fabric

Vera Wang 2010

Sheer fabric will be a sign of spring, especially flowing breezy layers.  Lengths of see-thru fabric over skirts and blousy sleeves will be perfectly on-trend as the warm sun returns to the skies.  Vintage sheers, rayon, mesh, organza, cotton and silk voile will all come into play.

Twisted Silver Spring/Summer Line

How sneaky are we to just kinda tack on this sneak peek all the way at the end of the post?  You’re among the elite group of scroller-downers!

Twisted Silver’s new line will be called RENEGADE TRIP and it has a collected feel of your funky wardrobe at the end of a crazy cross country road trip with friends.  You know the one I mean.  That last minute road trip on a tight budget comprised of lots of cheap but eccentric motels, delicious food from local hole-in-the-wall eateries.   High end fashion on the radar, but the buying power at thrift and antique stores found across state lines was intoxicating.  Your wardrobe at the end of the trip included a tan and blonde streaky hair, Huarache sandals, super huge turquoise medallion necklace, LOTS of silver bangles, long linen tunics with small pearl insets, a funky straw cowboy hat, vintage wide band rhinestone studded rings, a tiny distressed leather belt, and always a super large woven slouch bag.  Uber unique, eclectic and each piece saturated with the souvenir memories of your adventures.  By the end of the trip, your attitude had transformed into one of a carefree wanderer — all to be dashed seconds after arriving home to reminders of work schedules and dress codes, responsibilities.

Look for RENEGADE TRIP designs to be about collections and texture and layers in sophisticated eccentricity.  We can’t release any pictures just yet, but believe me when I say it’s KILLING US not too!

Look of the Week: Capture & Flatiron

Capture and Flatiron seem to be the necklace pairing of choice among fashionistas… simplicity vs rock star.  Love it!

Blogger Mama Fashionista played the off the edgy silver with a gorgeous violet Michael Kors kaftan and studded sandals:

Piper Larson, editor of Daily Diva Dish, highlighted the blackened brass with Marc Jacobs Faux Fur Boots for a monochrome snowy day look (the Starbucks is a nice touch!):

Rock in the New Year with Taylor Dayne

Dance in 2010 with Taylor Dayne

Dance the night away and rock in 2010 with Taylor Dayne on New Year’s Eve at the historic Castro Theater in San Francisco… while your swaying to the tunes that shaped the sound of the 80’s as well as her new hit CD “Satisfied”,  check out how she’s rockin’ Twisted Silver!

Deb had the opportunity to style Taylor for her upcoming tour schedule.  Taylor was instantly drawn (no surprise) to the chunky chain designs like the Hardware necklace and Beatnik bracelet.  Going after a truly unique stage look to match Taylor’s amazing stage presence, Deb is designing some custom pieces for her.  If you’re at the Castro on Thursday ringing in the new year, keep an eye out for Twisted chains on stage.

Wanna get Taylor’s look? Connect a Beatnik bracelet to the Hardware necklace and rock the combo as a belt!

Look of the Week: Glacier Cool Boho Casual

Glacier earrings are effortless for casual or dressy

So this is crazy week for most of us.  Last minute shopping, last minute baking and last minute visitors!  Really, though, does it have to be?  The holidays are about re-connecting with family and friends.  It’s about relaxing in good company and counting your blessings.  Twisted fans can take some of the stress out in the style department, knowing that pieces like the GLACIER earrings can go from glitzy evening to relaxed-by-the-fire effortlessly.

Sarah at The Fashionable Housewife got it spot on when she created this laid back boho look.  Born Peri boots, graphic tee, a slouchy tote and a touch of sparkle with the GLACIER earrings all work together for casual style … without going to the dreaded holiday sweatpants!  Thanks, Sarah, for the Look of the Week!

Disney’s A Christmas Carol Sammi Hanratty Rocks Twisted

Sammi Hanratty and Twisted Silver designer, Deb Mitchell

During the school break, take the whole family out to see Disney’s A Christmas Carol (Flixster reviewers are giving it 4 ½ stars).  Be sure to listen for Sammi Hanratty, the voice of the beggar boy, the young Cratchit girl and the Want Girl.  Sammi, who is as talented as she is adorable, was recently styled by Twisted designer, Deb Mitchell.

Proving no one is too young to get Twisted, Sammi fell for the whole line, especially the Diva choker layered with the Fusion necklace.   Is she as sweet as she looks?  Deb says so!

“Sammi is so genuine.  Her mom is too, and said that from day one Sammi made instant friends.  It’s her heart that drives her work, and that’s a star-making combo”

No stranger to the camera, Sammi has had roles on hit TV shows such as The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, iCarly, and Pushing Daisies and dozens of commercials.  She’s taken on the leading role in an upcoming film, The Greening of Whitney Brown and co-starring in The Lost Medallion: Adventures of Billy Stone.  She’s one rising star to watch!

Wrap It Up, I’ll Take it

Pure Jill Inspiration Wrap

How much do you love wrap sweaters?  They’re everywhere and I have to say they are so flattering on any figure.  Super practical too: the perfect layer that’s thin enough to not bulk your outer wear, yet comfortably warm indoors.

Twisted Tips:

If you have a slender waist, try tying the ends in front or to the side to highlight curves.  Or add a chain belt like the XO Belt ON TOP the wrap slung low on your hips as a double-take-worthy statement.

Twisted Silver's XO Belt's a show stopper

If you want to de-emphasize your middle, choose wraps that have a diagonal front cut, secured low with an interesting pin.  The beautiful drape will create a skimming and lengthening effect.  Choose necklaces that are just long enough to reach your narrowest part to visually create the illusion of a waist.  Connect a few chain necklaces – like Instinct Tag – to get the right length with a rockin’ edge.

Connect two (or three) Instinct Tag necklaces for a rockin' long chain!

Enjoy Crissy Michelle’s closet fashion show of some of her bargain wraps found at TJ Maxx.  Love the big band music too (especially if your ears are still ringing from yesterday’s Twisted Sister video post!!)  Follow Crissy on Twitter and subscribe to her YouTube channel for lots of beauty tips.

“O Come All Ye Faithful” Twisted Sister style!

If we had a dollar for every time someone slipped and called our jewelry “Twisted Sister” instead of “Twisted Silver,” we’d have mighty big stuffed pockets.  But we’re in no way offended at all!  Twisted Sister ROCKS!  In fact, their Christmas songs are that absolute perfect example of taking something traditionally classic and … twisting it … into something worth bangin’ your head about.  Sounds a lot like Twisted Silver jewelry, don’t chya think?

Enjoy “O Come All Ye Faithful”.  I triple-dog-dare you not to rock out to it! (it WILL be stuck in your head all day, though, I warn you!)
